did lots of stuff today with no immediate reward, but it still feels nice to clean out all those old files.
i actually went out and bought a new 128GB drive for the server, upgrading it from 16GB. updated the OS running on the server as well, not only to a newer version, but also switched to a headless one, since the computer im using as my server was originally being used graphically.

well, i _say_ that the drive is 128GB, because thats what it was advertised as; but it's actually closer to 113GiB.
i will continue to passionately insist that what is currently called a "gibibyte" is the _true_ gigabyte; i see no reason to ever use the "marketing gigabyte" for... well, anything, but i can at least understand _why_ it's used in marketing. its use is to deceive people, sure, but i've accepted that marketing is inherently about lying to people. thats why i refuse to touch it.
for clarity, im henceforth using "gibibyte" to mean GiB, and "marketing gigabyte" to mean GB. the term "gigabyte" is presently ambiguous and so i shall abstain from using it.
in a similar vein, the word "you" leaves ambiguity as to the number of intended recipients; as such, i will from now on only be using either "thou" or "y'all", for the sake of clarity.
